IT 628 Linux Environment and Security

Course Description: Linux is the fastest growing operating system today. This course starts with an overview of the structure of the Unix/Linux operating and Unix/Linux commands. Topics include installation of Linux, working with file system, Linux shells, file permissions, simple administration, and basic security issues. Introduction to an open source programming such as Perl or PHP. Students will be writing several practical applications using this programming language.
