Course Description: The study of techniques that will help the student to develop an ability to recreate orally and respond to the emotional values of great literature. Literary types are analyzed and presented to an audience. Recommended for prospective teachers.

Course Description: A study of the sounds of American English including practice in International Phonetic Alphabet transcription of standard English, foreign accents and phonologically disordered speech. Practice in Spanish transcription is provided for students in the bilingual track.

Prerequisite: SPE 165 or permission of the Instructor.

Course Description: Designed for Speech Communication majors and nonmajors. It will deal with a variety of topics of a current or general nature, as listed in the undergraduate course schedule. Certain topics may require a fee in addition to tuition.

Course Description: Do men and women communicate differently? Do they use words differently? Do they understand them differently? And if they do, how did things get this way?

SPE 321 Professional Speech Workshop

Prerequisite: SPE 102 or SPE 102A or COM 200 and junior standing.

Course Description: Advanced voice and speech techniques for students who intend to become professional communicators: speakers, teachers, actors, executives, etc. Video and audio tapes are used for student appraisals.
