CHE 296F Topics in Chemistry: Membrane Transport and Ionic Channels

Prerequisite: CHE 326, PHY 112, MAT 132 or permission of Chairperson.

Course Description: This course will address the physico-chemical principles and mechanisms found to be involved in membrane transport. New techniques in biochemistry, pharmacology, and membrane bio-physics will be explored in studying ionic transport across biomembranes. Upon completion of this courses, students will have a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying the changes in ionic permeability due to excitation and signaling during membrane transport.
