MUS 460 Musical Theatre Audition Technique

Prerequisite: Junior standing and permission of Department Chair. Students must be a Music Theater Major.

Course Description: This is a performance-based class with an emphasis on preparation for professional auditions. In this class, students will be assigned music that is specific to their needs and will be chosen based on the student's range, voice and type. Students will leave this class with all of the necessary skills needed to audition. This will include the completion of a headshot and resume as well as having a book full of appropriate audition material. In addition, students will learn about agents and casting directors. Students will also learn the anatomy of all the different types of auditions. There will be discussion on type and image. For the final, a panel of casting directors and agents will audition each student and give appropriate feedback.
