NURS 480 Transition into Professional Nursing Practice

Course Description: This course is the final course in the four year nursing program. This course focuses on clinical reasoning and clinical judgment needed for transition to professional practice at the novice level. Students will engage in scenarios to explore clinical reasoning and clinical judgment related to clinical practice and personal career trajectory. Faculty led seminars and clinical practice will engage students in a variety of career and clinical scenarios where students will exhibit clinical reasoning applied to evidence based practice, clinical judgment, and outcomes in the management of care of clients. Students reflect upon their experiences to improve the quality of care and the safety of the patient as they prepare for graduation and employment as a professional nurse. Special emphasis will be placed on provision of quality safe patient care and will include preparation for success on NCLEX-RN. Clinical practice will occur in a variety of settings.
